God Food vs. Man Food: Fueling the Body as It Was Designed
At CrossFit Full Armor, we believe health is not just physical—it’s spiritual, mental, and emotional. What you eat plays a major role in all four. One of the simplest ways to think about nutrition is through this lens: God food vs. man food.
This isn’t about perfection, trends, or extremes. It’s about returning to how the body was designed to be fueled.
What Is God Food?
God food is food that comes from God’s creation with minimal human interference. It’s real, recognizable, and nourishing.
Examples include:
Meat, fish, and eggs
Fruits and vegetables
Nuts and seeds
Potatoes, rice, and other whole starches
Natural fats like olive oil and butter
These foods:
Contain nutrients your body recognizes
Support hormone balance and gut health
Promote steady energy and recovery
Align with how humans ate for thousands of years
“Then God said, ‘I give you every seed-bearing plant… and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.’” — Genesis 1:29
God food is simple. It doesn’t need a label to explain what it is.
What Is Man Food?
Man food is food created or heavily altered by human processing. It’s engineered for convenience, shelf life, and profit—not health.
Examples include:
Ultra-processed snacks and desserts
Sugary drinks and energy drinks
Refined grains and seed oils
Foods with long ingredient lists you can’t pronounce
These foods often:
Spike blood sugar and crash energy
Increase inflammation
Disrupt hunger signals
Lead to overeating and poor recovery
“Everything is permissible,” but not everything is beneficial.” — 1 Corinthians 10:23
Man food may be legal, cheap, and everywhere—but it often costs you your health over time.
Why This Matters for Fitness
If you train hard but fuel poorly, progress stalls.
God food:
Improves workout performance
Enhances recovery and sleep
Supports lean muscle and fat loss
Builds long-term resilience
Man food:
Leaves you inflamed and fatigued
Slows recovery
Increases injury risk
Undermines consistency
Nutrition doesn’t need to be complicated—it needs to be aligned.
Progress, Not Perfection
This isn’t about never eating man food again. It’s about awareness and direction.
Ask yourself:
Did this food come from the earth or a factory?
Would my great-grandparents recognize this?
Does this fuel my body or just my cravings?
Aim to make God food the foundation and man food the exception.
Honoring the Body God Gave You
Your body is not disposable—it’s a gift and a responsibility.
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit… Therefore honor God with your bodies.” — 1 Corinthians 6:19–20
What you eat is one of the most practical ways to honor that calling.
At CrossFit Full Armor, we train hard, eat intentionally, and pursue complete health—body, soul, and spirit.
